Photo Guide

What Makes a Good Pet Photo?

The clearer your photos, the easier it is for us to understand your pet's features and create a more accurate keepsake. Use the examples below to see what usually works best.

Good photos

Strong reference photos are bright, close enough to show important details, and free from anything that hides your pet's features.

Clear and well lit

Clear and well lit

Choose a photo with natural or even lighting so your pet's face, markings, and fur color are easy to see.

Close enough to show details

Close enough to show details

Your pet should fill a good part of the frame so important features like the eyes, ears, nose, and facial markings are clearly visible.

Important features are visible

Make sure the face, ears, and unique markings are not hidden by hands, blankets, clothing, strong shadows, or heavy cropping.

Photos to avoid

These issues can make it harder to understand your pet clearly, no matter which product you order.

Blurry or very dark photos

Blurry or very dark photos

If the image is blurry or too dark, it becomes much harder to understand your pet's features accurately.

Pets too far away

Pets too far away

If your pet appears very small in the frame, there may not be enough visible detail to create the clearest result.

Important features are covered

Avoid photos where the face, ears, or markings are hidden by arms, accessories, blankets, furniture, or filters.

Quick tips

  • Phone photos are completely fine if they are clear and well lit
  • Original, unfiltered images usually work better than edited photos
  • If your pet's coat has changed over time, choose recent photos when possible
  • For multiple pets, upload separate clear photos of each pet whenever possible

Not sure which photos to upload?

Your product page will show the correct upload requirement for that design. If it asks for one main photo, a clear face-focused photo is usually enough. If it asks for multiple angles, please upload the front and side views shown below, plus an extra back or detail photo if helpful.

Choose the Right Upload Standard

Different designs need different types of reference photos. Your product page will show the correct upload fields, and the guide below explains what each standard means.

For Face-Focused Designs

1 required photo + 1 optional extra photo

Best for designs that mainly use your pet's face or front view. One clear main photo is usually enough.

Example of a clear main pet photo

Main photo of your pet *

Use a clear, bright photo that shows your pet's face, expression, and markings.

Example of an optional second pet photo

Optional second photo

You can add another photo if it shows facial markings or expression more clearly.

For 3D Designs

2 required photos + 1 optional extra photo

3D designs need more than one angle so we can better understand your pet's shape, profile, and markings.

Example of a front view pet photo

Front view photo *

Shows the face, eyes, ears, and front markings.

Example of a side view pet photo

Side view photo *

Helps show the head shape, muzzle, ear position, and side profile.

Example of a back or detail pet photo

Optional back or detail photo

Useful if your pet has important markings on the back or sides.

Photo upload questions

How do I know how many photos to upload?

Your product page will show the correct upload fields for that design. If you see one main photo field, one clear face-focused image is usually enough. If you see front and side fields, that design needs multiple angles.

When do I need a side view photo?

You will usually need a side view for 3D designs. It helps us understand your pet's profile, head shape, and details that may not be visible from the front.

Do I need to upload a back photo?

Not always. A back or detail photo is optional, but it can be very helpful if your pet has important markings on the back or sides that should be reflected in the final design.

Can I use phone photos or older photos?

Yes. Clear phone photos often work very well, and older photos can still be usable if your pet's features are visible. When possible, choose the clearest and most recent images you have.
